Meet Ashley

Im Ashley, LMFT

Are you ready for a new experience with a relatable therapist?

I believe in making therapy a relatable and pleasant experience. I truly enjoy connecting with a teen or young adult and offering a positive therapeutic relationship. I will collaborate with you and work toward your goals for reduced anxiety, increased clarity and new mindsets that create a life that works.

In the 12+ years that I have worked with teens and young adults, I have witnessed breakthrough and healing time and time again. In the midst of loss, a big transition, or incredible anxiety, we can come together and find a way forward.

Together, we develop better ways to manage emotions, set boundaries, or approach relationships with skills that produce the right results. By integrating practical tools that bring clarity along with specialized treatment methods, such as EMDR, new mindsets are revealed.

I will help you uncover your core values and align your life with your faith in a way that creates a life you love.

I help teens and young women overcome intense feelings of anxiety, depression, struggles with perfectionism or managing stress.

Through authentic conversation and skilled methods, we work toward healing and a new way of life that works.

Do you find that you need strategies to:

  • reduce overthinking?

  • decrease anxiety and overwhelm?

  • better manage time?

  • cope with sadness or transition?

  • bring back joy and faith into your life?

About Ashley

Ashley Cox , MA, LMFT received her Master’s in Clinical Psychology with an emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy in July 2012 from Azusa Pacific University. Since 2011, she has provided child and family therapy, as well as individual counseling, in both clinic and private settings. She is passionate about helping her clients cultivate healthy relational skills, improve boundaries, increase assertive communication, and heal from past trauma in order to experience the best in all relationships.

She understands the pain that comes from long seasons of waiting and can relate to women of faith that are still waiting for a spouse. She waited on God to write her story and after two decades of dating and growing, she has her answer to prayer and is preparing for marriage. The path to overcome trauma was a part of that breakthrough. She knows that your past can interfere with your future and is trained on reducing the distressing memories of trauma.

Trained by the EMDR Institute, the organization created by EMDR's founder Francine Shapiro, she takes great pride in being able to offer a way forward in life past the bondage of the past. She can provide EMDR to adolescents and adults.

She has also hosted numerous women's small groups and a ministry recovery workshop for women healing from abusive relationships and codependency. She is a partner with Latitude Recovery and part of the community relations team. She has also been a guest speaker at Point Loma Nazarene University teaching MACC (Master's of Clinical Counseling) students about abnormal adolescent disorders.

She has also been featured on the YouSchool (listen here) and GratitudeMovement Podcasts as an expert on mental health and adolescents.

When she is not working you can find her spending time with her awesome husband Bronson and bonus daughters (we dont call them "step-daughters"), at brunch with friends, at her church, or walking her dog Dudley and watching a sunset (of course).
